Solana, Ethereum Tokens To Watch
Due to their absurdity and explosive backlash, memecoins have become the biggest talking point in the cryptocurrency space. However, they are not yet the largest token category. In fact, meme coins rank 21st in terms of market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market.
However, the emergence of meme coins has been inconsistent, and by the looks of it, 2025 could be a pivotal year for its growth. Therefore, BeInCrypto analyzed the top meme tokens from the top chains and how they are performing.
Solana Meme Coin
Solana Meme coins stolen under the spotlight, like Chunky penguinFartcoin and Gigachad have taken over the cryptocurrency market this year. But the one mark that stands above them all is POPCAT. The latter has achieved 6,000% growth so far this year.
POPCAT managed to rise to $2.10 in mid-November, setting a new ATH. However, the Meme coin has not fared well since then, falling 64% and currently trading at $0.74.
Therefore, it is still difficult to return to the top and rebound further in the short term. Nonetheless, as long as the altcoin can regain support at $1.00, it has a chance to recover and grow.
The Solana meme coin’s growing narrative may give POPCAT the necessary boost back to $2.10 and beyond. But this recovery could prove challenging if inventors show profit-taking in the coming days, sending POPCAT lower.
When discussing the future of the Solana meme coin, Lennix Lai, CCO of OKX Global, told BeInCrypto that there is a lot to look forward to.

The rapid growth of the Solana meme coin suggests the chain could become a second home for joke tokens.
Ethereum meme coin
Ethereum is the largest home Meme Coin And hosted the leaders of Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. However, the breakout coin on the chain is SPX6900 (SPX), which is up 9,362% year-to-date.
This altcoin has caught on to this trend and has managed to attract the interest of meme coin enthusiasts. This makes it one of the 15 largest meme coins in the world, with a market capitalization of $748 million.
As of this writing, SPX is trading at $0.80, but has been trading at the $0.91 mark for the past two months. Despite the broader market rally, the short-term outlook for meme coins remains bleak.
A flip of $0.91 is crucial for SPX to return to its all-time high of $1.19, which is nearly 50% off its current price. The key support level for Meme Coin is $0.56, which has kept the altcoin at a level that it has spent much of its time recently.
Losing this support could invalidate the bullish thesis and lead to huge losses for investors. This could also lead to increased selling as SPX holders choose to secure gains.
Ethereum will continue to dominate the space due to the bias and precedent established by old memecoins. Still, it could face stiffer competition from Solana, as that chain’s prices are much cheaper.
Basic chain
Meme coin based on basic chain Not seeing as significant growth as Ethereum and Solana-based. However, BRETT is an outstanding meme coin, An unprecedented 12,800% increase over the past 12 months.
BRETT is currently trading at $0.125, well below the $0.236 ATH established this month. The meme coin is relying on bullish cues from the broader market to make its way back to the top.
The altcoin remains above $0.100, which is a key support level for BRETT and losing it is unlikely. However, heavy selling on the hands of investors could result in the price falling below $0.100, which could shake investor confidence.
Given Ethereum’s dominance and advantages SolanaBase Chain may find it difficult to dominate this space. Still, it will be interesting to see how far Base meme coins can develop in 2025.
