Arbitrum Unveils BoLD Protocol to Tackle Delay Attacks
Ethereum Layer-2 expansion solution Decide A new challenge-solving protocol called BoLD (Bounded Liquidity Delay) is proposed to promote its ecosystem.
The Arbitrum team first proposed the proposal on January 6.
this The DAO’s decision is now Conduct final on-chain voting on BoLD proposals. At the time of writing this article, proposal Received unanimous support from everyone community decision making99.79% vote Agree with it.
However, less than 1 million people out of a total of 201.5 million have voted so far. Voting ends on January 24th.
The BoLD protocol is designed to enable permissionless authentication and prevent latency attacks.
“While today’s Arbitrum chain benefits from fraud proof, BoLD introduces some subtle but innovative changes that allow anyone to challenge and win disputes within a fixed amount of time,” Arbitrum explain.
and, Arbitrum Verification One and Arbitrum Nova are now limited to a limited set of validators. DAO’s decision This measure is implemented to prevent “delay attacks”.
These attacks occur when a malicious party uses the challenge period to continually stir up disputes to delay confirmation of assertions.
Under the proposal, the BoLD would address this issue by resolving disputes within a fixed period. Currently, this time period is equivalent to a challenge period, which is approximately 6.4 days.
The agreement guarantees that the maximum total time for dispute resolution will not exceed two challenge periods: one for filing the dispute and one for resolving the dispute.
In addition, BoLD includes a two-day grace period Security Council intervenes if needed. This permissionless verification system is a step towards Arbitrum achieves Phase 2 Rollup goals status.
With BoLD, any honest party can verify and bind their funds to issue accurate Layer 2 state assertions and challenge malicious actors. This will bring a more open and secure ecosystem to Arbitrum.
Currently, the alpha version of the protocol has been deployed on the public testnet. It allows developers and users to test and explore BoLD’s functionality. The team hopes the BoLD proposal will help Arbitrum remain stable Leading Ethereum summary.
