A Big Step for Crypto Growth
Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is looking into approving the listing of Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on local exchanges. The move could make Thailand a growing hub for digital assets. According to Secretary Pornanong Budsaratragoon, the SEC is considering allowing individual and institutional investors to purchase local Bitcoin ETFs. Currently, Thailand lacks ETFs that directly invest in Bitcoin. However, in June 2024, One Asset Management launched a fund of funds offering investments in overseas Bitcoin ETFs. If approved, this would mark a major milestone for Thailand’s cryptocurrency market, promoting wider adoption and investment opportunities in the region.
