Bankman-Fried’s Family Seeks Trump Pardon After Ulbricht’s Release
According to reports, the parents of FTX’s founder Sam Bankman were sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraud, and he was seeking possibility of President Donald Trump. According to Bloomberg, they met with lawyers and numbers to explore their choices.
Bankman also appealed to his beliefs. He believes that his punishment is too high, especially considering that most FTX customers try to recover their funds. This forcing a wide range of driving force is Trump’s previous pardon trend, including Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road market.
Ulbricht was convicted in 2015 for operating a online platform Silk Road, which promoted illegal transactions of more than $ 200 million. Trump awarded Ulbricht forgiveness, on the grounds of his liberal views and his over -conviction. This move has triggered more and more support for Ulbricht, especially in the liberal circle.
Although the Bankman-Fric’s case lacks widespread support from the public, his legal team is using Trump’s tolerance history to promote pardon. This history is usually based on non-formal appeals rather than the channels of the Ministry of Justice. Bankman Fried is not alone. According to reports, another former FTX director Ryan Salame is also exploring similar efforts to pardon.
As the Trump government is more open and considers a generous incident of controversial cases including Urbridat, the pardon promotion signal claims that the broader landscape of white -collar criminal justice has changed. However, so far, it has not been confirmed that the official publicity of the Bankman Fried case with the White House has not yet been confirmed.
