Blockchain Investigator Finds 2.7B XRP in Dormant Wallets Linked to Ripple Co-Founder
Blockchain researcher ZachXBT alerted the dormant XRP address linked to the series co-founder Chris Larsen. These addresses have been in progress for six to seven years and suddenly came to life in January 2025, transferring XRP worth over $109 million into exchanges. Since XRP is currently worth $2.60, the wallet still holds 2.7 billion XRP, worth about $7.18 billion.
Larsen’s XRP holding rate has long been speculation. It is reported that in early 2024, Larsen lost 213 million XRP channels worth approximately $112 million due to hacking. Nevertheless, the rest of the dormant locations are related to him, continuing to hold a lot of XRP. Zachxbt’s investigation shows that Larsen may be gradually uninstalling the coins or may have lost access to them altogether.

Some of the addresses associated with Larsen have been inactive since 2013, which increases his potential to transfer or lose control of the funds during this period. Recent capital transfers may indicate that Larson either sold the remaining hiding or moved it to a different wallet.
This is not the first time Larsen’s XRP campaign has attracted attention. In September 2020, he moved about 500 million XRP (worth $115 million) to an undisclosed wallet, further speculating on his control over these holdings.
Although it is unclear whether Larsen still controls these large XRP holdings, recent activity has raised concerns about the potential market impact. If these coins are sold gradually, it may affect the price and market dynamics of XRP.
