Coinbase Adds GIGA and TURBO To Its Asset Roadmap, Way For Future Listings?
In the latest development, Coinbase announced that it has added Gigachad and Turbo to its token listing roadmap, suggesting that future listings on the exchange are possible. The move reflects Coinbase’s ongoing strategy of embracing a variety of cryptocurrencies, including niche tokens and meme-based tokens.
Both Gigachad and Turbo are considered part of a category of meme coins that are typically driven by internet culture and community enthusiasm rather than technical practicality. Gigachad (GIGA) is a meme coin inspired by the image of “Gigachad”. Turbo (TURBO) is an ERC-20 token based on the Ethereum blockchain. And Turbo is a memecoin created using ChatGPT.
Coinbase’s asset roadmap indicates that inclusion of cryptocurrencies is being considered. While inclusion on the roadmap does not guarantee immediate availability, it is a critical step toward wider accessibility.
Last month, Coinbase added PEPE and FLOKI to its trading platform. Earlier this week, Coinbase added TikTok-inspired meme coin Moo Deng (MOODENG) to its listing roadmap, expanding its cryptocurrency offerings in the fourth quarter of 2024. The price of Moo Deng (MOODENG) surged 80% of the token in an hour after Coinbase announced plans to list the token.
It is worth noting that if GIGA and TURBO are fully listed, they will join other meme coins that already have a presence on Coinbase, such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inucoin.
