Justin Sun, Vitalik Buterin Speak Amid Ethereum Reform Debate
TRON founder Justin Sun has proposed a hypothetical plan for Ethereum and the Ethereum Foundation (EF) under his leadership. His comments come amid controversy over a leadership change at EF.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin outlined the goals and progress of the reform. He highlighted improvements in technical expertise, ecosystem engagement and operational efficiency.
Justin Sun outlines blueprint for Ethereum leadership
The TRON executive made ambitious remarks about how he would lead the Ethereum Foundation if given the chance. The vision Sun shared at X outlines a four-point plan to fundamentally restructure EF operations, optimize Ethereum’s economic model and drive Ethereum price to $10,000.
“If EF and Ethereum are under my leadership, ETH will reach $10,000,” Sun claim.
Sun proposed an immediate halt to ETH sales for three years to stabilize supply and boost market confidence. He suggested covering EF’s operating costs by: Decentralized Finance Agreement such as ghoststaking yield, and Stablecoin Lending and borrowing, in line with Ethereum’s deflationary goals.
A key component of his plan is to impose high taxes on Tier 2 (L2) solutions, with the goal of generating $5 billion in revenue annually. collected tax ETH will be specifically repurchased and destroyed, further increasing its scarcity and value.
Sun also called for significant layoffs of EF staff, retaining only the best performers, and substantial salary increases. He believes this merit-based approach will streamline operations and increase efficiency.
Finally, Sun emphasized the adjustment node Rewards and increased fee consumption to strengthen Ethereum’s deflationary narrative. He suggested shifting all resources to Ethereum’s core L1 development, focusing on scalability, Safetyand adoption. Sun’s plans have drawn mixed reactions, with some applauding the bold vision.
“These are very practical suggestions. Please follow and refer to Vitalik Buterin, core developer 0xSea.eth strike a pose.
Meanwhile, others are asking Sun to focus on TRON and explore introducing decentralized finance (DeFi) into its ecosystem.
“Perhaps starting with how to make DeFi great on TRON – you should ask your executive team (and yourself), “Why doesn’t DeFi exist on TRON, despite it being the chain with the most stable token?” “If you answer this question, maybe TRON can beat eth one day.” ZIGChain co-founder Abdul Rafay Gadit commented.
Vitalik Buterin defends leadership amid criticism
Sun’s proposed solution is consistent with Vitalik Buterin’s recent post discussing changes that have been ongoing over the past year, some of which have already been implemented. Buterin highlighted goals such as strengthening EF’s technical leadership and improving collaboration with ecosystem players. He also responded to concerns, rejecting the idea that EF could take a centralized or politically motivated role.
“…These things are not what EF does and that won’t change at all. People looking for a different vision are welcome to create their own organizations.” Buterin Articulated.
EF executive Aya Miyaguchi Confirmed Efforts underway, excited for upcoming announcements. She noted that the reforms aim to solidify Ethereum’s position as a global neutral platform while embracing decentralization and privacy-preserving technologies.
The announcement caused controversy within the cryptocurrency community. Critics believe that the current leadership fails to manage Ethereum effectively.
“Respect, let fresh blood take over. You can’t even run a simple Twitter account – how can you be trusted to lead the second largest blockchain?” Wazz strike a pose.
Another user, Coinmamba, suggestion Forcing Miyaguchi to resign could lead to Ethereum hits all-time high. Buterin strongly condemned the comments, defended Miyaguchi and noted the toxicity of such social media rhetoric.
“No. That’s not how this game works,” Buterin countered. “I am the one who decides on the new EF leadership team. If you “keep the pressure on” then you create an environment that is toxic to top talent. You make my job harder,” Ethereum co-founder lament.
Buterin also refuted the specific accusations against Miyaguchi, pointing to inaccuracies in translation and misunderstandings of her remarks. He reiterated the need for a “proper board” within EF to strengthen governance.
As of this writing, Ethereum’s ETH token is trading at $3,305, up a modest 0.2% since Wednesday’s open.
