Pro-XRP Lawyer Deaton Calls on Gensler to Make SEC’s Hinman Report Public Within 10 Days
In a recent live video, Crypto Law founder and host John Deaton has called on the SEC to release a highly anticipated report on former SEC official William Hinman’s controversial 2018 speech. The speech gave Ethereum a regulatory pass but raised serious concerns about potential conflicts of interest within the SEC.
Any questions?
The independent watchdog group Empower Oversight has asked the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to investigate possible conflicts of interest related to Hinman’s remarks. The investigation has been completed and the report has been sent to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. However, it has not been made public yet.
Deaton’s message to the SEC
In response to the delay, Deaton, who represents 75,000 XRP holders in the Ripple case, called the SEC chairman’s office directly to take action. In a respectful but firm manner, he asked Gensler to release the report within the next 10 days. He also noted that the public, especially those following the Ripple case, are very interested in the findings.
Deaton’s message is clear:
“You are respectfully requesting that you release this report to the public. 75,000 XRP holders are awaiting this news.”
call to action
Deaton encouraged others to join him in pushing for transparency. He urged people to call or email the SEC asking for the report. The aim is to send a clear message: the public should know what is in the report.
Gensler will resign as SEC chairman on January 20, the same day as Donald Trump’s inauguration. Paul Atkins will take over as the new chairman of the SEC. As the deadline approaches, the cryptocurrency community is rallying to get the SEC to release the Hinman Report and ensure accountability for government actions.
