Vanina Ivanova on Empowering Women in Crypto
Vanina Ivanova is a marketing veteran. With nearly a decade of crypto experience, Ivanova is now head of marketing for Neon EVM, a network extension that allows Ethereum developers to run compatible Dapps easily Solana.

Q: How did you get into the cryptocurrency space, how did you get to where you are today?
I got into cryptocurrencies very early, by chance – back in 2016, my team and I were using a video streaming platform, we wanted to go through ads and traditional advertise The internet is terrible.
We identified their biggest problem – the lack of transparency in the advertising supply chain – and decided to build their own advertising engine on the blockchain to solve this problem. We were running and learning on the road, but we managed to do it.

Q: The cryptocurrency sectors are very interconnected and usually involve different countries. What are the challenges women face in the cryptocurrency sector, more extensive in finance and technology, and vary in different countries you have visited?
This is a huge topic and I don’t think I can answer it in a paragraph. Women around the world often face economic, political and even cultural challenges.
I like to focus on more common issues and therefore it is easier to find broader support such as misogyny and discrimination, restricted access to education, payment gaps or maternal law deficiency, to name just a few.
If we start to address these issues, it can be easier to empower women with the tools needed to address local challenges.
Q: What advice would you give to women aspiring to lead positions in the cryptocurrency sector?
Find your voice and don’t be afraid to be heard. Always ask “stupid” questions. You will be surprised that there is no answer to the frequency of men.
Find or build strong other female support groups in the cryptocurrencies around you. Failed fearlessly, then stood up again and moved on.
